The Department of Education Limpopo Learners Registration in Public Schools 2023

Limpopo’s Department of Education recently announced that registration for learner admission to public schools for the 2023 academic year has commenced.

To check any claims that a public school is registered with the Limpopo Department of Education, go to 113 Biccard Polokwane, office H53, or go to the department’s EMIS link on the department’s website.

Unlike privately run independent schools, public schools are run by the government.

Members of the Executive Committee (MEC), Mrs. Polly Boshielo, must acknowledge public schools.

Registration is now open for children starting school or relocating to a new school next year, from May 24 through July 29, 2022.

Because there is no direct way to complete the application online, the Limpopo Department of Education does not offer a digital option.

In other words, Limpopo parents and carers must manually submit physical applications.

School Starting Age

Typically, you must enroll your child in a public school between August 1 and September 31 of the preceding year.

A Grade R applicant must be four years old and turn five by June 30 of the following year, while a Grade One applicant must be five years old and six by June 30 of the following year.

Required Documents to Register Your Child at A Public School

According to the provincial government, all schools in the province have been identified as designated locations for collecting and submitting admission forms.

Parents and legal guardians of eligible children should get registration documentation as quickly as possible from the school closest to their home or from a feeder zone where other siblings are enrolled.

Admissions will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis if all other criteria in the admissions rules are followed. Completed forms must be submitted as soon as possible.

The following documents are required for children who are eligible to register:

  • Application form from the school
  • Official birth certificate or acceptable proof of birth date (do not take a baptismal certificate as proof)
  • Immunization card
  • If you are moving your child from one school to another, submit the latest school report and a transfer card

If these documents are not accessible, a child may be enrolled provisionally. Parents have a reasonable amount of time to submit their forms.

In addition to the documents given above, if you are not a South African citizen, you must also submit the following documents:

  • Study or work permit
  • Temporary or permanent residence permit from the South African Department of Home Affairs
  • Evidence that you have applied for permission to stay in South Africa

School fees differ from one school to the next. If you cannot pay, you must work out a payment plan with the school.

Although a school cannot reject admittance to a student, they can take legal action against you if you do not pay any overdue school fees.

The Department of Education Limpopo Learners Registration Terms and Conditions

The Department of Education’s standard operating procedures for the management of COVID-19 in schools has been directed to school management teams to ensure that the process of collecting and returning forms is managed according to them.
